2012 Midwest Vizsla Futurity
The 2012 Midwest Vizsla Futurity marks the 30th anniversary of this prestigious event.
The Futurity was started in 1981 by Hank Rozanek. From its earliest days it has drawn
the top Vizslas from the Midwest and around the country. Look at the past winners and
competitors. It shows many of the top dogs in our history. If you have a field dog you
will most likely see your bloodline represented. Remember “Keep them pups nominated”
2012 brought a large entry to the line. We had 17 Litters nominated by their breeders
with 32 dogs re-nominated. We also had 3 dogs nominated individually by their owners.
In the end 22 Vizslas with bright futures broke away from the West parking lot at the
DesPlaines Conservation Area Joliet Illinois.
This year as in the past we were fortunate to have 2 National caliber judges judge our
event. Our returning Judge was Kent Harter with Kent Merriman filling the new spot. We
would like to Thank Kent and Kent for their time spent in the saddle watching our dogs.
We would also like to thank our sponsor Purina for supplying dogfood for the winners
and Jackets we had embroidered for our judges
Friday morning March 9th was a perfect day for running dogs. The temperatures remained
cool and fairly steady to give consistent conditions to all competitors. The grounds from
the cast off and through the back field were good and gave enough cover and objectives.
Once re-entering the front field was another matter. The brush had been cut and fields
burned. The Illinois DNR was controlling the invasive plants making the orchard almost
bare. One edge of the orchard was still in good condition and didn’t detract from the
dogs. We ended in the north field to give room for some of the big running dogs.
The 2012 winners received a large purse and the coveted Double Lane Trophy. The
runners up received the traditional single lane trophy. Again this year the winner came
from a breeder nominated litter and the Breeder plaque was given out. The placements

2012 marks the 30th Anniversary of the Midwest Vizsla Futurity! The Futurity will be held on March 9, 2012, on the West Grounds of the Des Plaines Wildlife Area in Joliet, Illinois. Entries will close at 7:00 p.m., on Thursday, March 8, 2012, and the drawing will be held immediately after closing in the clubhouse. Entries may be made in person up until closing time at the grounds, or mailed beforehand to the MVF Secretary, Rodney Albin, 2445 Carter Road, Moscow Mills, MO 63362. The fee for entry in this year's Futurity is $75.00. Our judges will be Mr. Kent Harter of Hampshire, IL, and Mr. Kent Merryman, of Holland, MI.
